Welcome

Hello and welcome!  Thank you for visiting Lit'l Spuds Kampus!

I would  like to share with you a little bit about me - Penny Phillips or "Ms. Penny"!  I LOVE teaching and inspiring little learners! I started the preschool in my home in 1998. As the preschool grew, I moved the school to a new location in downtown Blackfoot in 2003. With continued support from families in Blackfoot, I was able to make a dream of mine come true and build my own preschool facility. The school was built in its current location at 175 Allen Street in the fall of 2007!I love making my classroom a warm and inviting home for little learners to explore, create and discover new things. I am very intentional with lesson plans, materials and activities. It is my goal for every student to feel safe, loved, confident - and to always let their creativity shine!

Teaching is truly my passion! It has been so much fun connecting and making friends with parents who share the same passion for education for their little ones. All the love and support has truly been a blessing in my life!

I am a mom to two amazing children, Hunter and Halle. Being a "mom" has been my greatest blessing of all! Without the love, support and experiences of my two children, the preschool wouldn't be what it is today.

Hunter graduated from Brigham Young University in 2015. He is a writer and filmmaker.  Hunter and his wife Avery live in Utah.

Halle and her husband Tyler live in Blackfoot.  They are the proud parents to my first grandbaby Hudson.  Halle owns and operates HAL Designs and Tyler owns and operate NuVision Window Films.

What your child will do in preschool!

The preschool years are some of the greatest times of discovery, learning and exploration. Children are discovering their feelings, learning life-long social skills and expanding their intellectual horizons by leaps and bounds.

At Lit’l Spuds Kampus the children learn by doing, getting messy, investigating, problem solving with their friends, using their imaginations, creating and exploring the world around them. They will do this through play, painting, drawing, building and singing together as friends and life long learners. The children also learn to get along with others, develop creativity, practice self expression and learn to follow routines.
The curriculum is rich with art, science, music, movement, literature and math. It is balanced with opportunities for child directed play.

Class sizes......
Classes are kept small having ten students per class provides each child with the attention they need, yet large enough to establish friendships and build their social development.

What parents say.......

Penny has been all of my kiddos preschool teacher and I am pretty sure they have adopted her as a second mother. She is kind, genuine, loving and especially fun. I can't ever get over all of the cute projects that they bring home. Some of them even have pictures of my kids so we seriously save them all for a yearly scrapbook. It is wonderful. I work with children a lot and I know that they can be hard to get to go to things sometimes. Not once through all of my kids so far have I ever had to force my child to get to preschool. My older ones are still begging to go back and visit her all of the time. I remember when I was looking for a place for my kids to go because we had just moved to Blackfoot. Everyone had recommended Lit'l Spuds to us. From the moment I spoke to Penny on the phone I knew she was the right fit for our family. Her kind heart was exactly what we were looking for when it came to our little ones. Because of her personality the kids crave learning from her and graduation is seriously the cutest thing ever!! I look forward to the songs they learn every time!!
My oldest daughter has been lucky enough to go to her "Just For Girls" class this last year and out of all the activities she does this is her very favorite. As a mom I love it too because I have a lot of little ones I can't always get out the crafty things at our home and let her go wild. This gives her the chance to do this and learn so much that I haven't had the chance to teach her. She even entered projects into the state fair and won ribbons for them. It was so fun to see her so excited!! If you are wondering which way to go.....don't wait any longer!! You will not regret this life long relationship that you and your family will build with such an amazing lady!!! -

This is hands down the best pre-school! All of my 4 children attended and always came home with amazing crafts and stories and fun friends in their classes. One of my favorites was when we raised and released our own butterfly! Amazing!! What else can I say - Hilary Lindsay, Parent

As a teacher I always ask incoming students if they attended a preschool.   If they told me that they went Ms. Penny's Lit'l Spuds Kampus I would pump my fist with "Hooray!"   I appreciate Ms. Penny's focus on academic skills that affect her students' future school experience.  She is fantastic.  Ms. Penny instills her students with a love for learning.  She provides an age appropriate academic foundation for students.  Ms. Penny's kids always seem a step ahead of the rest of my class. Her students also learn social skills and the ability to work well with others. Thank you Ms.Penny!  Your love for kids and your hard work pays off in more ways than you will ever know.  -  Jotien Adams, Kindergarten Teacher

ALL FOUR of my boys have gone to Litl' Spuds Kampus and I cannot put into words how AMAZING it is! Miss Penny is the most wonderful, caring, patient, and creative person you will ever met!  Coming from a picky mom...this preschool is unbeatable!  I mean really...this year I am commuting my 3 year old to Litl' Spuds from another city! It's that great!  She teaches technology, fosters creativity, and the things my boys have brought home have a special place in my heart...and my home! Everything is SO CUTE we have just about everything they have made there from leprechaun traps and little Christmas elves to bug catching gear and Earth Day T-shirts. We have raised and released 5 butterflies, adorned our home with the cutest preschool artwork EVER, and my boys absolutely LOVE school and I have her to thank! She loves those kids and they love her! ...and so do I!

Zay, Camryn and Samantha have the fondest memories of Lit'l Spuds Kampus and Miss Penny! You gave them the best start for their school years. They saved all of their art work and display the many Holiday master pieces for friends and family!  Lit'l Spuds Kampus is a wonderful beginning! - Marilyn Carroll, Grandparent

I seriously can't say enough good things about this school. In awe everyday of the crafts that Zack brought home. He is so nervous about kindergarten because he told me know one is as good as his Ms. penny.

I can't say enough good things about this preschool. Everyday my son learns something new. It is obvious when my child comes home from school with his bookbag filled with fun arts and crafts, and learning activities he did that day, that Miss Penny goes way above and beyond to make it fun! She is the best at what she does!
